100.000 households expected to benefit from new economic assistance scheme

About 100,000 families will benefit, starting this month, by the rise in the amount of economic assistance issued by the Albanian government.

The Ministry of Social Welfare has issued two guidelines on May 8, which abrogate the February 2017 guidelines, envisaging a rise in the economic assistance starting from May 15, 2017.

The new guidelines published in the official gazette extend the deadline to September 1 this year.

The guideline in question is that “on the use of the conditional fund for the assistance of up to 6%”, which gives the Municipal Council the right to approve the granting of economic assistance to households that are not beneficiaries of the scoring system, used up to 6 percent of the conditional fund for assistance.

51 thousand people from 13 social categories living on state treatment benefited from this decision.

The second instruction, meanwhile, repeals point 15 of guideline no. 4, dated 17.2.2017 “On the calculation of the benefit of economic assistance”.

Thus, the new economic aid calculation for some 100 thousand families, for whom the partial assistance of ALL 800 has been repealed, will start from this month.

According to official data of the Ministry of Finance, the fund used for economic assistance from the state budget for the 7-month period is ALL 11.3 billion.
