154m euros in a month – December boosts investment momentum, minus 90m euros for 2019
The state budget spent about ALL 19 billion or EUR 154 million on public investments during December 2019. Official finance data show that the “tradition” continues, with the cashier opening up massively in the last month of the year, after analyzing the figures throughout 2019, showing that the monthly average of disbursements fluctuates from ALL 3-5 billion per month, and growth has begun since November, where ALL 8 billion has been disbursed, to then surpass the end of the year by 4 times the average value.
In spite of this attempt, the state coffers were closed with the non-realization of planned investments of about ALL 11.1 billion or EUR 90 million minus the plan, which shows the normal failure of infrastructure projects. Also, compared to 2018, capital expenditures are still down by about EUR 27.5 million. In contrast, current and operating expenses have increased.
During 2019, personnel expenditures amounted to about ALL 3.4 billion more than the same period a year earlier, while operating and maintenance expenses accounted for about ALL 47.2 billion spent, or ALL 1.8 billion more than a year ago. As for investments, expectations for this year are still pessimistic, as the budget due to the consequences of the earthquake of November 26, was cut, which is expected to leave its mark on the development of the economy.
