18.3 million euros damage to the budget – Violation of tenders and misuse of funds
The economic damage caused to the state budget in the first half of this year amounts to about 18.3 million euros. The Supreme State Audit has published the audit report for the period January-June 2020, which highlights that the biggest violations with significant effects on the state budget and not only, are related to revenue administration, such as careless management in the process of use of public funds; mismanagement of state property followed by procedural irregularities and inefficiencies in the implementation of public procurement procedures, as well as violations in the implementation of fiscal legislation.
Thus, in the field of revenues, the economic damage amounts to 8.5 million euros. But on the other hand, even higher is the damage to expenditures, reaching the level of 9.8 million euros and is related to inefficient spending, effectiveness and economy of funds, as well as violations of budgetary discipline related to the liquidation of expenditures, mismanagement of programmed funds or lack of control in the implementation of procurement procedures not in accordance with the legal framework. Audits were conducted in 34 entities and were extended to central institutions and subordinate units.
