More than 19 thousand newly-registered businesses in 2017
Every economic roundtable held in Albania focuses on creating a favorable climate for business.
But according to official statistics for 2017, there were 19 041 businesses registered with the National Business Center.
These figures have been published by the Minister of Finance himself, and according to him these are the official data of the National Business Center.
According to these statistics, referring to the ownership of the businesses, it turns out that from these new businesses, about 17,444 businesses are Albanian, 11,292 are foreign businesses, 298 businesses are jointly Albanian-foreign owned and 7 state-owned businesses.
Even though the number of newly-opened businesses is high, there are also many requests for closing businesses.
According to the NCB’s statistics, over the past year, the number of unregistered businesses was 5,139.
The action on informality has produced an effect to this process, where many businesses that had unpaid obligations from the tax administration filed a request to be closed, while not excluding the possibility of being opened under new names.
Meanwhile, with the aim to facilitate business procedures, the National Business Center started two years ago providing the services in a summarized way, reducing bureaucracy and business costs, and not split in two different offices, QKR and QKL.
The business community now has a single center dedicated to registration, as well as permits and licenses.
