2018 budget foresees only ALL 522mln for youth and sports
The next year’s budget foresees ALL 522 million, or ALL 336 million more than last year’s one, which will go for sports and youth programs.
The latter sector is now under the responsibility of the Ministry of Education.
According to the government, the amount of ALL 300 million will go for investments mainly for sports infrastructure, with a particular eye to the latter.
But what is still unclear is what will happen with the youth sector and even though the government has voiced a rise in investment of up to 200% in this sector, it seems that this figure does not correspond to the allocated budget for 2018.
This concern has also been expressed earlier by the National Youth Network in Albania, which stressed the need for attention which has been lacking on the part of the state.
Through a public statement they asked the government to allocate a specific budget for youth within the budget of the Ministry, pointing out that the lack of a budget for this category leads to a lack of education, more desire to emigrate as well as possibilities for an increase in the number of users of narcotics and perpetrators of crimes.
Currently, the fund for sport is ALL 186 million, while for youth there was no special section in the budget.
