2020, the government increases unpaid bills – Ministry of Finance: Institution debt stock $ 230 million in total

The year 2020 is closed with a very high level of outstanding liabilities by central and local institutions. The Ministry of Finance has published the total arrears from public administrations, which amount to a total of ALL 23.8 billion, approximately $ 280 million. Most of the liabilities consist of non-refundable VAT to businesses, which amounts to ALL 9.7 billion, approximately USD 97 million. While a significant amount of debts has been accumulated by local government units, whose liabilities in total result in the amount of 7 billion ALL, approximately 70 million USD. The rest of the outstanding liabilities are the responsibility of the central government institutions, which amount to ALL 6.9 billion, approximately USD 69 million. It is noteworthy that about half of this amount belongs to unpaid court decisions by the institutions, with a total value of about 35 million dollars. Second in terms of weight to the total are the outstanding investment liabilities, both by central institutions and municipalities.
