4-5 stars hotel will have no taxes in 2018: Minister of Toursim

New special-status 4-star and 5-star hotels will be tax-free, while infrastructure tax will be lifted.

This statement was made by the Minister of Tourism and Environment Blendi Klosi during the inauguration of Michael Ship in the Port of Durres, an event attended by the representatives of several tourist agencies.

Further, Klosi added that the services within this hotel range will have 6% VAT on the development of all businesses within this sector.

“The new fiscal package that we are passing in parliament along with the 2018 budget seems to bring about in Albania excellent initiatives for investors in the field of tourism, initiatives that when compared with the countries of the region are more positive. Initiatives that require that hotels coming to Albania and creating new special-status 4 and 5 star hotels and that have a well-established name in the European tourism development market will be tax-free. The taxes on these types of hotels will be lifted in all areas of tourism development in our country. For all services within this hotel range, we will have 6% VAT on the development of all businesses within this sector, thus creating opportunities for other initiatives, new opportunities for investing in Albania,” Klosi said.

The Minister also requested a cooperation with all business representatives, diplomatic missions, local governments, actors and stakeholders interested in wider promotion of tourism in our country.

“Actually, we need to express our readiness, to express all possibilities, to express all the chances that we have, together with business representatives, together with the diplomatic representations, together with the local governments, together with stakeholders in this area, to make a wider promotion of the outstanding opportunities that tourism in our country has.”

For the first time, the “Michael” ship, a production of recent years, increases fivefold the capacity of transport with 1000 passengers, 120 trucks and 200 cars, with routes three times a week linking Durrës -Ankona-Trieste.

Through this vessel the travel time between the two countries is shortened and the opportunity for the exchange of tourists is increased.
