44% less foreigners during November – More from Northern Macedonia, less from Kosovo
The number of foreign nationals who entered Albania during November has decreased by about 44%, show the latest data from the Institute of Statistics. For the entire 11-month period of this year, meanwhile, the decline is fixed at 59.5%, which illustrates quite well the effect of the pandemic not only on transport and tourism, but on the whole chain of the economy.
Even in terms of the entry of Albanian citizens, who in most cases are immigrants, the decline is significant, at the rate of 50% for both November and the 11-month period, signal data from the Institute of Statistics. The decrease in the number of visits by emigrants to our country also translates into fewer remittances, in addition to the direct effect on the economy. Even during October, the decline figures were similar, except for the entry of Albanian citizens, where the decline was somewhat smaller than in November.
What stands out from the figures is the fact that the number of citizens from Kosovo who entered Albania has returned to decline during November, unlike in October, when the increase was 35%. For the entire 11-month period, the number of citizens from Kosovo who have visited Albania is recorded in a decrease of 40%. During November, only the entry of foreign citizens from Northern Macedonia increased by 29.1%. Even in terms of the outflow of Albanian citizens, the figures are almost halved. During November, the decline is fixed at 56.6%, while for the 11-month period at 50.5%.
