94m euro grant for agriculture: IPARD head sets three conditions
Within April, farmers may submit their applications to benefit from a 94m-euro grant made available through the European Union’s IPARD program at the amount of € 71m and through the Albanian government € 24m.
The IPARD Director General at the European Commission noted that Albania has met the criteria to benefit from these funds but has placed three key conditions which will be crucial for allocating further funding.
“There are three conditions to be met. Do not make it complicated as a process so that farmers can apply and benefit from these funds. I want you to show that you know how to use the money, as we are at a stage of looking at how we will fund the next 7 years, after 2020. We have ready the launching of the IPARD program and I’m here to make sure all the money will go to the farmers and I want to see results next time I come.”
At the third meeting of the IPARD II Monitoring Committee, Agriculture Minister Niko Peleshi guaranteed that the funds will be distributed transparently and farmers will be assisted to make the process simpler.
After closing applications for National Schemes, farmers will have another funding window.
94m euros will go to fund agriculture by 2020 and the fund is expected to support all branches of this sector.
