AirBnb bargains: Macedonia, Albania and Kosovo the cheapest in Europe
THANKS to Airbnb, cash-strapped tourists can now stay in city centres for a fraction of the cost of a hotel.
But not every country works out cheaper when it comes to the holiday lettings site.
In fact, where you visit can mean the difference of almost £100 a night.
VoucherCloud has studied the cheapest and most expensive places across Europe on Airbnb, with pricey cities in Western Europe and Scandinavia coming out on top.
Iceland (£112), Sweden (£82) and Andorra (£79) officially top the list of most expensive Airbnb nations, followed closely by Norway (£77) and the UK (£75).
Whereas, Germany and Portugal were among the countries that came in surprisingly under-budget.
Eastern Europe provided the best bargains though, with the average price per night of an Airbnb across Macedonia (£26), Albania (£27) and Moldova (£28) representing the cheapest offerings across Europe.
On-the-rise areas like Poland (£31) and Croatia (£43) still offer surprisingly cheap stays, while Germany (£45) and Portugal (£45) represent the surprise bargains among more popular holiday destinations.
If you’re specifically travelling as a couple or as a larger group of six people though, Greece, Switzerland and Germany make for the best value as a couple, while Andorra, Liechtenstein and Georgia are ideal group-getaway options on a budget.
In fact, it’s 32 per cent cheaper per person to travel in a group of six than as a couple, on average.
