Albania 30th in the world among 129 economies: Transformation Index BTI 2018
Albania ranks 30th in the world, among 129 developed or transition economies, in the Transformation Index BTI 2018 that analyzes and evaluates the quality of a country’s democracy, market economy and managerial policy, taking into account the country’s path.
In the past index, that of 2016, the country ranked 33rd in the world, among 130 economies.
Albania ranks in a favorable position, while in the region it leaves behind Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Macedonia.
Serbia and Montenegro seem to have a better performance this year.
In the sub-indicator of democracy and the market economy, Albania ranks 34th in the world, while in that of governing it ranks 24th.
But regardless of rankings, Albania gets the lowest points exactly in terms of governing, only 6.02 points.
With a score from 1 to 10, Albania gets the highest points in terms of state presence, 9, while in terms of market organization the country was given 8.3.
Based on comprehensive country reports and in collaboration with about 250 internationally recognized experts, the BTI 2018 for the eighth time gives a detailed picture of the impact of reform strategies on democracy under the rule of law, a market economy anchored in principles of social justice and governance.
The BTI provides significant impetus and information for the work of foreign and development policy stakeholders, academia and media, as well as for local democrats and reformers.
This year’s report summarizes the most important global and regional developments between 2015 and 2017.
