Albania has second lowest unemployment rate in the Western Balkans: EC report
The European Commission projects that unemployment rate this year in Albania will drop to 13.7%, while next year is projected to experience a further drop, to 13%.
Compared to other countries in the region, it turns out that Albania is in a favorable position in this regard.
Among the six countries of the Western Balkans, better than Albania os only Serbia.
In Serbia, the unemployment rate is projected to fall to 9.5% next year, from 22.1% in 2013, so there is a marked progress.
In 2016, Serbia overtook Albania in terms of unemployment rate.
The other countries in the region, meanwhile, have a very high unemployment rate, to over 20%, with the exception of Montenegro.
Macedonia is also projected to have an unemployment rate of 21% this year and the next one.
For Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina meanwhile, there are no up-to-date projections.
Other projections, such as those of the International Labor Organization, show the same thing: Albania is and will be the second country in the region with regard to the lowest unemployment rate.
