Albania is the country with the least testing in Europe – Only 8500 tests per 1 million inhabitants, twice less than the penultimate country
With only 8,549 tests per 1 million inhabitants, Albania is unquestionably the last country in Europe for the number of Covid-19 tests in relation to the population, according to data updated by Worldometers.
Moreover, the penultimate country, Ukraine, has this figure twice as high as Albania, in about 16 thousand tests per 1 million inhabitants. Montenegro has about 22,000 tests per 1 million inhabitants, Bosnia and Herzegovina about 29,000, Northern Macedonia about 31,000, and Serbia about 50,000. Kosovo, meanwhile, is not on the list of countries analyzed by Worldometers.
Testing was one of the European Union’s criteria for opening or not opening borders with the Western Balkans. It was precisely this criterion that seems to have caused division within the Western Balkans.
