Albania, Kosovo eye common strategic EU, world diplomacy
Despite the fact that the two territories cannot be merged into a single state, Albania and Kosovo may at least function as an alliance in the eyes of European diplomacy.
Prime Minister Edi Rama stated at the conference after a meeting with his counterpart PM Haradinaj that the two countries should benefit together from the opportunities offered through the Berlin process and from IPA funds.
“Today we have specifically talked about the role that foreign ministers will take in this process, so that through national coordinators in the Berlin process, we can be a model in the benefits of the process not just as separate states but as two states strategically interested to work together,” PM Rama said.
PM Rama has addressed the issue of diplomatic seats stating that it is an unreasonable expenditure that the two countries hold separate services.
“We have talked about a plan for building an Albanian real estate fund in Europe, starting from the European diplomacy headquarters, to extend it further. It will be a common asset of both states and at the same time it will give Albanians an address,” PM Rama added.
For his part, Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj praised the proposed strategy and said that until the next meeting there will be an advanced agenda for actions which is slated to help the two countries.
