Albania is the least polluted country in the region: Yale University’s environmental index
When it comes to pollution, Albania undoubtedly is not among the most problematic countries.
This is also what states the most prestigious report in this regard, the global Environmental Performance Index, compiled annually by Yale University .
This year, Albania ranks in the 40th place, among the 180 countries of the world.
With this ranking, Albania turns out to be the least polluted country of the region, leaving behind all other countries, including EU member Croatia.
The most polluted country in the region is Bosnia and Herzegovina, holding the 158th position.
Among the countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Albania ranks 8th. But the same can not be said about the quality of air.
In this regard, Albania ranks 98th in the world, among 180 countries. In total there are many indicators, over 60, and in each of them, our country performs differently.
Comparison with the past years is in vain as there is a drastic change in the overall index compilation methodology.
