Albania, Macedonia and Bulgaria considering railway along 8th Pan-European Corridor
The transport ministers of the Western Balkan countries are considering the construction of a new railway linking Skopje with Sofia and Tirana.
For this reason, a meeting is expected in the coming days with representatives of the World Bank and the European Investment Bank to discuss possible funding for investing in what is called the 8th Pan-European Corridor.
This new project will link Macedonia to Bulgaria and Albania.
According to Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, all this will strengthen the common opportunities by increasing the flow of passengers and goods.
This corridor is expected to connect the ports of Bari and Brindisi in Puglia with Albania, Macedonia and Bulgaria.
From the Albanian port of Durres, the corridor will pass through Tirana, Skopje, Sofia, at the ports of Burgas and Varna in the Black Sea.
