Albania oil production amounts to 730 thousand tons in 9-month period of 2017
About 730,000 tons of oil were produced during the first nine months of 2017 by licensed companies in the country.
The National Agency of Natural Resources AKBN offered the data to TV SCAN, referring to reports from the companies operating in the oil production market through the Hydrocarbon Agreements.
The largest share is held by Bankers Petroleum, with about 643 thousand tons of oil produced in the Patos-Marinza area.
Second in the list comes Albpetrol with 67,770 tons of oil, while what is noticeable is a significant increase in output compared to a year ago, as for the whole of 2016 the state company produced about 51 thousand tons.
This company is followed by Transoilgroup with about 16 thousand tons produced at the Visoka plant.
While a smaller share is held by the other licensed companies and more specifically TransAtlantic Albania with about 2000 tons, reflecting a sharp decline compared to the previous year, reporting over 49 thousand tons of manufactured oil, and Sherwood International with 423 tons.
Meanwhile, as far as free research blocks are concerned, Blocks 2 and 3 are operated by Shell, which is expected to sign another research agreement for block 4 research.
According to AKBN, currently the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy has not announced any new promotional campaign for free research blocks, but anyone who wants to invest in Albania is welcome to apply because the country is following the policy of “open doors”.
