Albania, the highest number of building permits in six years
The number of building permits for 2018 marked the highest level for the last six years.
According to data from the Institute of Statistics, nearly 1200 construction permits were approved last year, up 46% compared to 2017. The approximate value of approved permits was ALL 59 billion, even this record figure for the last six years and 20% higher compared to 2016.
In the last two years there has been a significant increase of the construction initiative in the Albanian economy. Following the abolition of the moratorium on permits and the sluggish improvement of the economy, the interest of businesses to build has increased. According to detailed statistics, permits are distributed to both residential and commercial buildings, commercial buildings, industrial buildings or hotels.
An effect on increasing the number of permits is also the limitation of the practice of illegal constructions. Thus, about 80% of the permits granted to residential constructions last year are for one or two storey buildings. Meanwhile, the number of permits for buildings throughout Albania last year was 142, an increase of 10% compared to 2017.
The largest number of building permits during last year was concentrated in Tirana. According to Institute of Statistics, in the capital was provided 388 building permits or about 32% of all permits at national level. The city of Durrës comes the second with 156 construction permits and Fier County with 129 permits.
