Albania to draft climate protection law by 2018 according to terms of Paris agreement
Albania will prepare by 2018 a legal package together with the main acts for climate protection.
According to representatives of the Ministry of Environment, this package aims air de-carbonization and keeping parameters according to the terms of the Paris agreement.
Environmental specialists at the ministry said for SCAN TV that in order to implement this agreement they are working not only in reducing greenhouse gas emissions to preserve the environment, but also to save the environment.
The law has focused on the implementation of the Paris Agreement, which Albania ratified in July 2016 with the commitment to implement it.
The bill clearly stipulates the institutional tasks to implement the international commitments that the country has, but also the measures needed at national level, related to climate change.
All projects that will be developed in the field of agriculture, water, livestock etc. should also consider expected changes in the environment.
Relevant institutions should engage to take climate changes into consideration in their policies and to convey their policies at the community level.
Five are the key decisions that must be met on the basis of the Paris agreement.
First limiting global warming below 2 degrees Celsius; greenhouse gas emissions must be reduced to zero; eliminating the use of coal, oil and gas for energy; fossil fuels have to be replaced with energy from the sun and wind and the last countries developed to provide $ 100 billion a year by 2020 to help developing countries.
