Albanian entrepreneurs in Italy – Increased by 6% during the pandemic, a total of 49,748
“Scan” has provided the data of the report recently published by the “Leone Moressa” foundation regarding the figures of foreign entrepreneurs in Italy during the last year. What stands out from the figures is the fact that, despite the pandemic, Albanian entrepreneurs in the neighboring country have increased significantly over the past year, even recording among the largest increases among other entrepreneurial nationalities in Italy. According to official figures, it turns out that, during the last year, that of the pandemic, Albanian entrepreneurs in Italy increased by 6%, which is the third highest rate in the country.
Only Nigeria and Moldova record a higher rate, although in absolute terms the increase is smaller than that of Albanians. These figures come despite the very difficult year that Italy went through, as one of the countries most affected by the crisis, and especially for the tourism sector, where a large part of Albanians are focused, as entrepreneurs, but also as employees. Since 2011 meanwhile, the rate of Albanian entrepreneurs in Italy has increased by 35%.
In total, there are 49,748 Albanian entrepreneurs in Italy, who were born outside Italy, ie in the majority in Albania. This is the 4th largest figure in the country, after China, Romania and Morocco.
Albanian entrepreneurs thus account for 6.7% of the total number of foreign entrepreneurs in the country. Foreigners represent 11% of entrepreneurs in total. This means that at least 0.66% of enterprises in Italy are owned by an Albanian. Only those born outside Italy are counted in this figure, which means that the figure may be higher.
