Albanian food ‘uninfected’ by Covid! The only export item that broke last year’s record
The export of food, beverages and tobacco from Albania is the only voice that the pandemic has not affected, or rather has not affected in a negative sense, but only strengthened. According to the latest Report of the Institute of Statistics, Albania exported ALL 2.8 billion more food, beverages and tobacco in the period January-October 2020, from what it exported in the same period of the previous year.
Referring to INSTAT data, in the 10 months of 2019, Albania has exported 29 billion ALL from these groups of goods, to destinations distributed across countries. Meanwhile, in the period January – October 2020, the export of food, beverages and tobacco has reached the value of ALL 31.9 billion.
Except for these groups of goods, all other items have actually experienced a decrease in exports, compared to the 10 months of 2019. Exports, in their entirety, decreased by 12.2%, from January to October 2019. Instat shows that the groups that have most negatively affected the annual decrease in exports are “textiles and footwear”, with 6.2%, minerals, fuels, electricity ”by 3.8%, as well as“ construction materials and metals ”, by 2.3%.
