Albanian gov’t intends to hire international consultant for tourism in Southern Coast
The Albanian Development Fund recently announced that it is seeking an international consultant in order to draft a final report focusing on tourism in southern Albania.
This component is part of a project funded by the World Bank, focused on Integrated Urban Development and Tourism, and aims to conduct a detailed market research in four municipalities: Gjirokastra, Berat, Permeti and Saranda.
The World Bank’s loan amounts to 63.8 million euros, but market research funding only accounts for a small part of this loan.
But what will the duties of the international consultant be?
First, the drafting of an initial report that will analyze the current tourism situation in the four municipalities in question.
Second, there will be a market research.
Third, an action plan as well as a product and market development strategy will be in place.
The fourth task for the consultant is to develop the terms of reference for the implementation of the market development strategy.
According to the procedures, the consultant is expected to sign a contract within September and start work in October to close it in June next year.
The aim of the study’s findings is to turn the four municipalities into key tourism centers and have a long-term vision beyond the years covered by the World Bank project.
