Albanians flocking to Greece, Turkey for vacations due to lower prices: Tourist operators
Tourist operators in Albania reported this year a 20-30 percent increase in package sales to Turkey and Greece.
Experts of the market claim that this increase in the number of tourists has come due to better offers and lower prices of accommodation.
Besnik Vathi, vice president of the tour operators union, told SCAN TV that the number of Albanians seeking to travel abroad in increasing year after year, while new destinations such as Costa Brava and Malta have been offered for the first time this year.
“25-30 percent of the Albanians travel to Turkey, and more to Greece, where the figure amounts to 30 percent, so there is an increase in number. Two destinations that attract a large number of Albanian tourists, and have higher income, are Turkey and Greece. Turkey is the number one in terms of income, while in terms of the number of tourists, Greece is first. This year, other destinations, including the Costa Brava, Malta, are being offered. The number of tourists was higher as a result of low budget offers in Turkey and Greece.”
A characteristic of recent years, according to Vathi, has been the duration of the vacationer’s stay which has been reduced by 2 weeks to 7 days.
“This year, Turkey’s offers were dominated by 6-day holidays. While in other destinations, within a single week there have been two travels for three days, four days and seven days.”
According to Vathi, this year the most favorable prices were in Greece, as one of the most attractive destinations, followed by Turkey as the second most attractive country by Albanian vacationers.
