Albanians increase spending – Food costs fall. Tirana and Korça at the top
Average expenditures for Albanian households have increased to 82,236 ALL per month, from 77,864 ALL in 2018, according to the latest data from Instat, which signal an increase in average monthly expenditures per household of about 4300 ALL per month, or 5.6 % increase compared to the previous year. The largest increase is observed in the entertainment voice, over 50%, as well as in clothing or alcoholic beverages and tobacco.
Meanwhile, the costs for food and non-alcoholic beverages as well as transportation have decreased. As a result, the share of food in the monthly expenses of Albanians has fallen slightly, from about 44%, to about 41% in 2019, according to Instat data. Regarding household expenditures by regions, Tirana is unquestionably the first, with about 98 thousand ALL per household, followed by Korça and Fieri, with 82 thousand and 79 thousand ALL respectively. The last three regions of the list meanwhile are: Kukësi, Elbasani and Dibra, with 69 thousand, 68 thousand and 67 thousand ALL respectively.
