Albania’s cultural tourism blooming as 555,000 visitors reported in the 9-month period
The holiday season this year has been positive for cultural tourism in Albania.
According to statistics issued by the national Institute of Statistics, the number of visitors to museums, monuments and archeological sites increased during the third quarter of 2017.
In three months, the number of visitors reached 332,000, up 15% over the same period year-on-yer.
For the first nine months of this year, a total of 555,000 visitors have been registered in museums and sites.
The most attractive cultural destination for tourists remains archaeological parks.
In the third quarter, archaeological parks had over 150,000 visitors or about 45% of the total number of visitors to the country’s historic main attractions.
This growth is owed mainly to the positive trend of inbound tourism.
In 10 months, Albania was visited by 4.6 million foreign nationals, 7% more compared to the same period last year.
The country has attracted a growing number of visitors over the last few years, thanks to competitive prices compared to other destinations in the region.
