Albania’s expensive Vetting: Justice reform reserve fund for 3-year period set at $36m
The government has set aside a reserve fund of about $ 36 million to meet unexpected expenditures during the reform of the justice system in Albania for the 2018-2020 time span.
Scan has revealed government budget projections for the next three years.
For the year that has just started, the Council of Ministers has foreseen a reserve fund of ALL 1 billion, or around $ 10 million for this purpose.
In the next two years, the fund will grow to reach 1.8 billion, approximately $ 18 million.
These funds also provide for expenses for the High Council of Prosecutor’s Office, which has not yet been established and is expected to be constituted in the first quarter of this year.
Meanwhile, $ 4.5 million is the amount set in the 2018 budget for Vetting bodies that will re-evaluate judges and prosecutors.
According to official data of the state budget, the lion’s share of this figure will be received by the Independent Qualification Commission, chaired by Genta Bungo.
For covering the salaries and expenses of this body, the amount is about $ 1.8 million.
The Appellate Panel, headed by Natasha Mulaj, will benefit from the state budget about $ 1.3 million.
While, a fund of about $ 500,000 is foreseen for public commissioners.
