Albania’s tourism revenues at 1.3 billion euros for nine months
Albanian economy’s revenues from inbound tourism reported a record figure during this year’s season.
According to data from the Bank of Albania, revenues from travel to the balance of payments affected the value of 588 million euros for the third quarter of the year, up by 13% compared to the same period of the previous year.
So far, this year tourism revenues are expanding considerably.
For the 9-month period, they were at the value of 1.3 billion euros, with an increase again at 13%.
Tourism revenues are showing an upward trend in recent years, while last year they reached a record of 1.5 billion euros.
However, considering the 9-month trend, this figure is expected to be exceeded for 2017.
According to the Institute of Statistics, around 4.6 million foreigners have entered in January-October in Albania, 7% more compared to the same period last year.
On the other hand, the expense of Albanians for traveling abroad is also increasing, which is the main indirect indicator for outbound tourism.
According to the Bank of Albania, in the third quarter of the year, Albanians spent 407 million euros, increasing by nearly 10% over the same period a year earlier.
For the entire 9-month period, the expenses of Albanians abroad reached 974 million euros, marking an annual increase of 12%.
