Albania’s VAT revenues mark a significant rise despite election year
The rise in the level of consumption seems to have given an effect on revenues from VAT.
One of the factors that may have affected the revenues of this item may be business awareness and formalization of transactions.
According to statistics issued by the Ministry of Finance, revenues from VAT for the first four months of the year have been realized to ALL 41.9 billion, while being 1.5 billion more than a year ago.
In the same period a year earlier, the collection of revenues from this tax was at the amount of ALL 40.4 billion.
But while analyzing these revenues for this item in fiscal indicators, we can see that there is also a higher figure in VAT refunds to businesses.
In the four months period, the fiscal administration has refunded the refundable VAT amounted to ALL 3.8 billion, from ALL 2.6 billion that was refunded in the same period a year ago.
According to these indicators, we can conclude that although in an election year, the efficiency of tax administration has not decreased, but, on the contrary, revenues in the state coffers have reported an increase.
