Around 2000 road accidents in 2017 marking a slight decrease from 2016: 222 people lost their lives
The number of road accidents in the country has decreased over the past year compared to 2016.
According to INSTAT data, during last year Albania has recorded a total of 1,978 accidents, a figure that has fallen by 2,7% compared to 2016 .
Also in December, which is known as problematic in this regard, there is a decrease in the number of accidents by 28.6% compared to December 2016.
Thus, the month that we left behind has recorded a total of 132 road accidents.
The number of casualties in December 2017 is 170 people, compared to the same month of 2016 decreased by 25.1%.
Over the past year 222 people have died as a result of accidents, while Tirana records the highest number of accidents that occurred throughout 2017.
According to INSTAT figures, in December 2017 there are 154 injured, whereas throughout the year, the number of injured by road accidents was 2,389.
Compared with 2016, the figure has decreased by 4.8%.
In December, road accidents, at 81.8% of the number of cases, occurred as a result of the driver’s behavior.
The highest number of accidents was caused by the age group 25 – 35 year olds.
