BoA will no longer mediate the sale of securities – It will transfer this competence entirely to commercial banks by 2020

The Bank of Albania envisages that by the end of 2022 it will gradually close the intermediation activity in the purchase and administration of government securities accounts for individuals, completely transferring this activity to commercial banks operating in our country, the institution itself explains, which has included this as part of its objectives until 2022. This decision comes in the context of fostering developments in the internal financial market.

“Increasing the intermediary activity of banks in the participation of individuals in primary auctions of government securities will help expand the customer base receiving banking services, as well as strengthen client-bank links, in terms of increasing secondary market activity. of retail sale of securities ”- underlines the institution.

Currently, individuals can buy government securities through the Bank of Albania, as well as through commercial banks. Government securities, bonds and treasury bills, from 2023, it seems that can no longer be bought by individuals through the Bank of Albania, but only through commercial banks operating in our country.
