Cities by businesses per capita – Gjirokastra first. The south “conquers” the top of the list, the north of Albania at the end
There are about 162,000 active enterprises in Albania, according to the latest data published by the Institute of Statistics. The average speaks for 57 enterprises for every 1 thousand inhabitants. But what are the cities with the most entrepreneurs and the ones with the least?
“Scan” has processed the latest Instat data based on the population of each county, to extract the highest number of entrepreneurs per capita and the lowest.
According to the analyzed data, in the first place is Gjirokastra, with a total of 79.5 businesses per 1 thousand inhabitants. Then follows Fier with 77.5 businesses for every 1 thousand inhabitants, while the third place is held by the region of Berat with 74.8 businesses for every 1 thousand inhabitants. The two largest counties in the country, which share the share of the “lion” in the “cake” of the economy, Tirana and Durres hold the 6th and 9th place, respectively. In Tirana there are 59.1 businesses per 1 thousand inhabitants, while in Durrës, only 42.9.
But what are the circles farthest from the “soul” of entrepreneurship? Dibra is the last, with 24.9 businesses per 1 thousand inhabitants, followed by Kukes, with 26.9 and Lezha with 42.1. What stands out from this classification is the separation as with knife of the south with the north. Among the 12 counties of the country classified according to enterprises by population, the first 5 counties of the list are from the south, respectively: Gjirokastra, Fier, Berat, Korca and Vlora. Tirana holds the 6th place in the meantime. On the other hand, in the second half, ie that of the cities with the lowest number of enterprises per capita, there are 4 northern cities, and even the last 3 of the list are as follows; Dibra, Kukes and Lezha. No county in the northern region exceeds the national average.
