Companies paying around 12k euro per year in bribes to Albanian institutions: Balkans barometer
Dealing with business in Albania involve a very high cost of gifts and various underpayments for various services.
This situation is illustrated quite well by the businesses themselves in the latest Balkan barometer for 2018, and there are even concrete figures.
In the first place of payments, Albanian businesses value that those for the judiciary are around 5100 euros per year.
This cost for an Albanian business is quite high, given that there are also other underpayments.
The second place is held by payments made to get a government contract, ie a public bid, at around 1900 euros a year for an average business.
The third place, with 1740 euros, is held by public services, while at the fourth place with 1730 euros is held by business permits and licenses.
With a little less than 1700 euros, however, you find the payments to the customs administration.
More convincingly, fewer money is paid to labor, health and environment inspectors.
So if the business perception is correct in terms of underhand payments, even in the form of gifts, the cost of the Albanian entrepreneurship to corrupt various institutions goes around 12500 euros per year.
Compared to other countries in the region, however, Albania is in the first place firmly, while no country is near this figure.
In the second place in the region is Macedonia, with about 6000 euros per annum for underhand payments and gifts to corrupt competent bodies.
