Consensus, reforms bring Albania closer to the EU: Vllahutin
EU Ambassador Romana Vlahutin presented to the Parliamentary EU Integration and Foreign Policy Commission the report the European Commission on the recommendation for opening accession talks.
Vlahutin made a detailed presentation of the report and urged Albanian political class to achieve consensus in order to open negotiations in June.
According to the EU ambassador, the country should continue to deepen reforms and at the same time there should be more transparency regarding public-private partnership.
“The unconditional recommendation expresses the opinion of the European Commission that Albania has reached the level for opening negotiations, although there is still much work to be done. The country must continue to work in the deepening of the reforms it has already launched. While politics must find consensus in deeds and not in words, so that in June the country can get a positive decision by all EU member states to open negotiations. In the economic aspect, there should be more transparency regarding PPPs,” Vllahutin said.
Meanwhile the opposition has ended its the boycott of the Parliamentary Commissions.
According to the head of the Parliamentary Commission on Integration Genc Pollo, Albania has received a sustainable assessment in the last three years.
The European Commission evaluates with five maximum points each state for the work done to meet the conditions or priorities, while Albania has received three points for the administration and 2 points for the justice system.
