Covid-19 tests in Albania are not enough! WB cites study: Albania should make a minimum of 3700 tests per day
In a document analyzing Albania’s confrontation with Covid-19, the World Bank cites figures showing that the level of testing is insufficient and this makes it difficult to limit the spread of the infection.
According to the World Health Organization, when the ratio between positive cases and total testing is less than 10%, this indicates that the testing rate is sufficient. At the time of the closure, Albania was within this border. But, in recent weeks, the positivity rate is regularly above 20%, which indirectly indicates that the number of tests is insufficient.
A study by the Rockefeller Foundation suggests that the testing rate should be at least 1.3 for every 1,000 inhabitants per day. For Albania, this would translate into at least 3700 tests per day, while in the best case we have reached just above the limit of 600 tests per day.
