Cybercrime cases in Albania marked slight decrease in 2017
In 2017, prosecution offices in Albania have put under investigation 146 cybercrime cases, with a slight decrease by 4% compared to the previous year.
A decline was also reported regarding the number of convicts for the offense of Cybercrime, from 11 to 2016, to 7 last year.
This category of criminal offenses includes computer fraud, unauthorized access to reserved data, forgery of data, or illegal computer-related interception.
According to official data of the General Prosecutor’s Office, the biggest weight in this group of crimes is held by computer fraud, followed by illegal intervention in the reserved data.
According to official data, the defendants are all males over the age of 18.
With regard to the education of defendants, it results that 62.5% of them have high school education, 25% university education, while 12.5% have education of up to 9 years.
It also turns out that 87.5% of the defendants have their place of residence in a city and 12.5% in the countryside.
As to the state of the defendants, it is noticed that 75% of them are not convicted previously and 25% have been previously convicted of different offenses.
