Deposits fall, loans rise – BoA’s data for July, non-performing loans remain at record low
The latest data from the Bank of Albania show that lending to the banking sector increased during July, both in monthly and annual terms. Thus, official data show that during July, the loan portfolio rose to ALL 43.4 billion, from about ALL 40.5 billion that was the previous month, an increase of 7.1%, or about ALL 37.6 billion that was in July, a year ago, increasing by 15.4%.
The increase in lending to the banking sector comes despite the economic crisis that the country and the whole world are going through, as a result of the pandemic. The level of non-performing loans remains the same as the previous month, at around 8%, which is the lowest level in the last 11 years. What is noticed other from the data of the Bank of Albania is a slight contraction of deposits, which have decreased to 148.5 billion ALL during July, from 151.1 billion ALL that were in June, or from about 152.8 billion ALL in July of one year before.
