Deputy PM at “16+1”: Albania ready for One Belt – One Road projects
The sixth meeting between China and 16 countries of Central and South-East Europe was held in Budapest, along the initiative that has already been named “One Belt – One Road”.
Attending at the meeting was Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
Albania, meanwhile, was represented at the meeting by Deputy Prime Minister Senida Mesi and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Damian Gjiknuri.
“Albania is ready to continue its commitment with concrete national and interregional projects,” declared the Deputy Prime Minister.
The directions and areas of cooperation within this initiative are in line with the current priorities of Albania, and in many of them, the country has the opportunity to offer and realize concrete cooperation and benefits in various fields such as energy, infrastructure, transport, mining and processing industry, agriculture, economic zones, education, culture, etc.
In the framework of the summit, two cooperation agreements were signed with China: one in the field of customs and one in the field of energy, which will contribute to the further development of relations between the two countries.
In addition to leaders’ meetings, the summit saw also a business forum and meetings between national coordinators of each country.
At the same time, the Budapest Guide was also signed, which will further strengthen the cooperation between the participating countries.
The Chinese prime minister, meanwhile, announced that China will give commit some $3 billion in projects to the region.
