DP expected to propose a majoritarian system with 100 MPs
The beginning of this week is expected to be full of political activities in Albania.
The steering board of the DP Parliamentary Group has decided to submit to the Parliament on Monday a demand over the establishment of the special commission for the Electoral Reform.
At the meeting of the steering board of the DP Parliamentary Group, the democrats decided to place at their focus the issues that revolve around vote manipulation and electronic voting and counting.
Sources from the DP announced that the democrats have already drafted their political project, which they will submit as a proposal at the ad hoc commission that will be established by the Parliament.
The DP is expected to propose to the Assembly the restoration of the majoritarian system, which envisages Albania divided into 100 electoral zones.
In this way, the proposal is for the Parliament to be composed of 100 deputies instead of 140 seats that it currently has.
This is a project that the leader of the Democrats made public during his stay in the protest tent set in front of the Prime Minister’s Office when apologizing for the 2008 constitutional changes.
Democrats are thus trying to offer a solution in relation to the problems encountered in the electoral processes in Albania through a new electoral law that is expected to be discussed in Parliament.
