Environmental infrastructure: 14 EU, foreign projects invested 48 mln euros in four years
Albania’s environmental infrastructure is one of the sectors that has aroused great interest from foreign investors through various projects in recent years.
Foreign investors have funneled around 48m euros for the environmental infrastructure in Albania in just four years.
In the environmental sector, 14 different projects have been launched, which are still uncompleted and are aimed at strengthening the institutional capacity to improve environmental services, nature conservation, integrated solid waste management and recycling economy.
The year when foreign investors, mainly from the European Union, have initiated more projects in the environmental sector was 2015, with 5 projects, while one of the projects with the highest value is IPA 2013 which aimed to strengthen the National Nature Conservation Capacity – the NATURA 2000 project, funded by the European Union, with a total cost of 4.4m euros.
This project was started in 2015 and is expected to be completed next year.
