EU’s Hahn receives PM Rama: No summer vacations in these 12 intensive months
European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn and the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, at a press conference in Brussels, stated that work to advance the recommendations of the European Council will begin immediately.
For this reason, the Commissioner will travel to Tirana in the coming Tuesday.
“We are at the beginning and I will be in Tirana on Tuesday to start the preparatory work. This is a challenging job where we should look at and appreciate the work done for these 35 chapters. This is an obligation to be carried out. Depending on our work, we will move forward and negotiate. Our teams have to start working right away, even before the summer vacations,” said Hahn.
“I am very happy that you will visit Tirana on Tuesday for practically starting these 12 months of intensive work to be fully prepared when the negotiations formally begin and to gain more time in getting better prepared,” PM Rama said.
The Albanian Commissioner and Prime Minister have also responded to questions from journalists about the far-flung agreement between Tirana and Athens.
Prime Minister Rama said that much progress has been marked by the two sides in the negotiating process.
