Experts propose remodeling of Albania’s economic structure in 2018
Despite the fact that the Albanian economy is expected to close 2017 with the projected growth, this year will not be easy.
Economy experts, Adrian Civici and Selami Xhepa, in a TV SCAN analysis, highlight several factors that will positively influence economic growth, but not without mentioning the risks.
According to them, the remodeling of the economy could bring greater integration of the Albanian economy into wider regional and European economies.
“There is much to be done not only in the framework of the Berlin Process, but also in a more strategic and longer-term look at the creation of a more regional economy, I would say. 8 or 10 Southeast European countries in perspective should make a more harmonized, wider market among them not only to benefit, but to be more ready to integrate into larger market large, such as the European Union. If we continue with completely local concepts and visions that are completely temporary and coherent, unrelated to these major market tendencies of markets, including financial and monetary ones and development, of course, we will continue to have a solution of the type “today for tomorrow”, Albanian-type solutions that do not take us anywhere.”
“It is expected that we will have an even more important development in tourism, agriculture, or in some ICT sectors, namely Communication and Information Technologies, which are generally expected to be associated with higher values, added to the economy. So there are some sort of attempts or intentions on the part of the government, but certainly one year is not enough to see whether it will materialize or not, but this is a long-term process. This is a process where it cannot be said that its effects will appear and manifest completely within such a short period of time. But, what is important is that beyond this we have to look at the environment for investments in Albania.”
According to experts, it is important to improve the business climate and especially stimulate growth of new domestic or foreign investments.
