Fiscal facilities for elite tourism units won’t hinder other categories: Topuzi
The creation of fiscal facilities for investors in 4 and 5 star accommodation structures is a necessity to absorb this kind of tourism that is currently lacking in Albania.
This is the comment that the head of the hotel association Zak Topuzi made for SCAN, adding that this does not penalize the rest of the services.
“There will be no problems for the industry in general, because for this target group there are demands coming not only from Albanians but also from the region, while the existing part will continue to sell at the same pace. It was being discussed on July 15 and August 15 that to ask for a room or a hotel in the area of Himara, Dhërmi or Saranda would be busy and this target group is not one that is already coming to Albania – this target group that will spend money will be a new one.”
Topuzi stressed that the greatest need for building 4- and 5-star hotels is not in Tirana but in other areas of the country, adding that the capital needs 2- or 3-star hotels.
“Tirana is overwhelmed with 5-star hotels, and they are competing with each other, and here we need 2 and 3-star hotels to absorb this contingent we talked about, namely ordinary tourists.”
While regarding the special status for the investor in the 4 and 5-star accommodation sectors, Topuzi replied:
“I do not believe it is necessary for you to have a tourism law, you have some legal acts that clearly define standards and a person who meets these standards can automatically pass this status.”
