Foreign affairs budget for 2018 increased by 17%, focus on economic diplomacy
Economic diplomacy will be the focus of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs starting from next year.
During the presentation of the budget for 2018, Minister Ditmir Bushati emphasized that besides the priority for opening the EU membership talks, this ministry will pay attention to the inclusion of diplomacy in the economic process related to investments in various sectors including tourism.
Bushati added that starting from next year the process of registration of Albanian citizens abroad will begin so that they can exercise their right to vote.
The budget of the Ministry of European Affairs and Foreign Affairs reaches the value of ALL 2.9 billion, an increase of 17% compared to the previous year.
With the merging of the former Ministry of Integration, this budget is added to some 7 million euros, investment in projects that are being finalized.
According to Bushat, over 50% of this budget will go to the implementation of cross-border projects.
