Foreign Trade in the pandemic year! ALL 27 billion less exports, imports were “hit” by 7%
In 2020, exports of goods have decreased by almost 10%, compared to 2019. Instat’s annual report on Foreign Trade shows that exports have decreased by ALL 26.8 billion, compared to January – December 2019. In 2019, Albania has exported in total goods worth ALL 298.7 billion, while for the same period of 2020, the value of exports fell to ALL 271.9 billion.
Regarding imports, referring to Instat figures, from 649.1 billion ALL in the period January – December 2019, the figure fell to 605.2 billion ALL for the same period of 2020. In other words, in the “famous pandemic” year, imports are hit by about 7%, compared to 2019.
Germany has emerged as the country with which exports increased the most during 2020, with almost 13%, followed by Greece with 3.4% and Northern Macedonia with 3.4%. On the other hand, the countries with which exports have fallen the most are Italy, with about 14%, Kosovo, with 12% and Spain, with 30.4%.
In terms of imports, the largest increase during 2020 compared to 2019, is with Greece, with 0.2%, Germany, with 0.3% and Serbia, with 77.8%. The opposite has happened with imports from Italy, Turkey and China. Instat speaks of a decline of 7.4%, 6.2% and 9.5% respectively.
