Free Oil Blocks: Panaja and Block 5 fail to attract investors
Albania-The government of Albania has once again offered to interested companies the free oil blocks, but differently from previous offers this time there are more than just one or two of them.
Through a map that has been updated at the end of January 2017, the Albanian National Agency of Natural Resources offers a clear picture of what it proposes.
According to the map, negotiations for Dumrea and Block 4 are still going on with the interested companies, respectively Shell and Delek Group, while the interest shown by companies over Block 5 and Block Panaja is zero.
The latter blocks together with other free blocks, which are estimated to be eleven in total, have been offered for potential investors.
According to experts and public institutions, what has lowered the interest have been the declining prices of oil in global markets, thus shrinking the investment plans of both average actors and giants of the industry.
The Ministry of Energy and Industry has claimed that it will now pursue a policy that is different from the previous one, while leaving open the possibility for potential investors to show their interest at any time they see fit.
