From march to august 46 re-evaluated magistrate, 45% dismissed
Vetting’s process accelerated significantly during the second half of July and the first week of August.
It turns out that 46 magistrates and prosecutors underwent the reevaluation process at the end of the first season of Vetting.
55% of them managed to successfully pass the Vetting test, while 45% was dismissed. Most of the magistrates who passed through were judges and few prosecutors.
The decisions discussed further were the on-going confirmations by Constitutional Court leader Bashkim Dedja, and Supreme Court leader Xhezair Zaganjori.
However, for Dedjan the reevaluation process is not definitively closed because the Public Commissioners, appealed the decision for his confirmation under the IOM recommendation.
We have to wait for September to see if it will appeal the confirmation of Xhezair Zaganjori.
The process so far has had its own positive and negative sides. Among the negative effects are the abolition of the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court, currently counting respectively 2 and 4 members, which make it impossible to make any decision.
The positive fact is that the majority of the 57 magistrates who were subjected to Vetting were able to pass through.
But even though most of the candidates have already passed through Vetting’s test, none of the two bodies (High Judicial Council and the High Council prosecution) could be constituted before the end of the year.
