Fuel consumption on the rise, over 18.000 tons more than in 2016
The fuel consumption in Albania during the first months of this year has increased.
According to official statistics of the Directory General of Customs, for the period of 5 months more than 231 908 tons of fuel have been thrown in the market consumption, while in the same period of 2016 this amount was 195 677 tons.
So according these data show that this year the consumption was over 18 231 tons of fuel.
Since this year coincided with parliamentary elections, we can analyze the fact that the electoral campaign had an impact on consumption.
But even the increase of the level of public investment during this period can be interpreted as a greater opportunity for fuel consumption.
Referring to data from Customs, it is not clear how much is the amount of imported fuel and how much is local production.
But if we analyze the increase in imports of fuels, we can see that what may have contributed is the reduction of oil prices in international markets.
This option can be used by importers to increase deposits in the country to benefit from lower purchase prices.
However, this is a good sign for the local economy, since it is assumed that consumption has increased, but also for the state budget since revenues from goods with excise hold an important place in the overall revenues of the customs administration.
