Gov’t drafting fiscal facilities for agritourism companies: Hoti

Albanian companies that will be categorized as agro-tourism enterprises will benefit from government fiscal alleviation.

Several standards have been adopted recently and business ventures will be included in this category, which will then be provided with a certificate.

Advisor to Agriculture Minister, Enea Hoti, elaborated for TV SCAN on the businesses that will receive this status.

“An agritourism enterprise, as a precondition, must have a farm, so it cannot be called agrotourism unless there is an agricultural farm, a livestock unit, or an agricultural unit. These units are defined in the decision, as well as the size of the farm, the type of farm, etc. In addition, the accommodation structure, or what is called guesthouse, is defined in the standard from a minimum of rooms to a maximum. Also, the restaurant has some criteria, both for the host capacity and for the meals provided there. There can be no agrotourism that offers imported foods or foods that are not traditional products,” Hoti said.

For these enterprises, the government envisages an aggressive package with fiscal alleviation, and support with subsidies for their development.

“The support will be through fiscal facilities that are being worked on for a very aggressive package, but it has not yet been presented and we expect to announce it the following month. But what is important, even from ministry funds, we will support not only hostels that have potential and can increase, adapting to the capacities and criteria of the DCM, but also for the creation of new agrotourism units. There are funds ranging from 10 thousand euros to 150 thousand euros. So there are funds and grants available to support the rural economy,” Hoti explained.

First, the government is working on a legal initiative involving facilities for companies operating in the field of agrotourism, such as those that 5 star hotels benefit today, including exemption for 10 years by taxes, the Value Added Tax becomes 6 percent and zero Profit Tax, which currently is at the level of 15 percent.

While those who build in this sector will be exempted from the tax on infrastructure for 10 years.

However, the package is still in the drafting stage and has not taken the final shape.
