Gov’t opens competition for 16 mining areas, including second largest chrome reserve in Albania
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy has opened the bidding procedures for mining permits covering 16 mining areas.
Most of these mining areas have been approved in previous annual plans, starting in 2011.
Some of the permits include areas for limestone quarrying, such as in Kukes or Lushnja.
But there are also permits to extract various minerals such as chrome in the Dibra region.
In total, the competing mining areas for which the tender will be opened are: No. 275/7, No. 275/8, No. 181, No. 659/1, No. 261, No. 713/2, No. 419/6, No. 289, No. 289/6, No. 519, No. 198, No. 602/1, No. 276/5, No. 532, No. 322, and No. 428.
The deadline for submission of bids for these permits is by groups, and the dates are 2, 3 and 4 May 2018.
Meanwhile, at the end of February, MIE opened the procedures for the use of the Vlahne Mine in Kukës, which constitutes the second largest chrome reserve in the country.
