Gov’t and opposition debate over 2018 budget and fiscal package
Prime Minister Edi Rama presented to the Parliament the draft and fiscal package of 2018.
According to Rama, this budget represents optimistic figures, which will cause the country to grow by about 4% in 2018.
While introducing the budget, Rama stated that debt will be reduced by 2.5%, with the distribution of economic aid increased in 9 districts of the country.
A particular place in the budget and fiscal package 2018 is devoted to property tax and tax exemption for the fishing sector.
The local government will manage to provide a value of about ALL 3 billion from the transfer as revenues from 2% of the personal income tax.
Meanwhile, besides the 1 billion euro reconstruction project, which has started with the Arber road, the budget also envisages about ALL 8 billion for investments.
But even though the government praises it as a budget that will provide an economic growth for the country, the opposition is not optimistic.
According to the head of the DP Lulzim Basha this budget will further impoverish Albanians.
The inclusion in the VAT scheme of about 100,000 small businesses will cause many of them to go bankrupt.
Meanwhile, Basha stated that “1 billion euro” project for rebuilding is a way for the state to cleanse money.
The 2018 budget envisages revenues of ALL 464,292 billion, expenditures totaling ALL 496,658 billion and a deficit of ALL 32 366 billion
